Inishowen

As the 2008/09 season draws to a close, I feel it an opportune to bring to mind the changes that have happened in the club under the stewardship of club Captain Shaun Craig, and Coach Kevin Gallagher. The foresight shown by Shaun in bringing Kevin to the club has enriched the experience for every player who has worn an Inishowen shirt during the last 2 seasons, has brought resources and experience that would have only been dreamt about in previous years, and has provided a rock solid foundation on which the club can continue to build upon.

The example in leadership that Shaun has provided has been second to none, he has worked tirelessly on the pitch, and even more so off the pitch, he has had the best interests and welfare of the club in the forefront of his actions, and has provided an example for future Captains to try to emulate. On behalf of the club and from me personally, I would like to offer my thanks to Shaun for his efforts, they will never be forgotten.

As Shaun steps down as Captain, we must also bid a very fond farewell to Kevin Gallagher who is leaving us for new challenges. Kevin will leave the club, as a lifelong friend, and with our heartiest endorsements, for his tenure as Club Coach has delivered above and beyond, anything that might have been expected. His professionalism, commitment, insight, experience and patience have provided a legacy that will live on in the Club, and will be used as a benchmark from which the Club will measure itself for years to come.

In his farewell note, Kevin suggested that if a player felt that they had improved under his stewardship, then he had done his job, I feel that this understated remark is the very least of his accomplishments. Players have improved, have witnessed what is possible and are hungry for more; they are striving not solely to compete, but to reach their potential, surely the most positive legacy for any Coach.
