The
name Na Maidí Dubha comes from an ancient name and translates to 'the
black sticks'. A burned forest (hence the name) stood on the site
of where this comfortable modern bungalow now stands.
For
those who do not want to stay in the middle of a busy market town,
Na Maidí Dubha is very convenient, as it is set in the quieter precincts
of Carndonagh within a pleasant three-minute walk to the town
itself.
There
are 4 comfortable rooms 2 singles (sleeping four), & 2 larger doubles
(en-suite), & 2 bathrooms Coffee / Tea and T.V facilites included
Children are most welcome
Inishowen is fast becoming the place for those who love wild natural
beauty, tranquillity and meeting the local people whose warmth and
welcome to visitors is rightly famous. The area is an unspoiled understated
wonderland of things to do.
During
the day, Golf (the challenging and famous Ballyliffin Links), fishing
(river & sea), a Cultural theme park in the isle of 'Doagh' with lots
to see and do, hill walking along the coastal cliffs (especially at
Malin Head, the most northerly point in Ireland), pony trekking, Lovely
quiet beaches to stroll along or for bathing, Small picturesque towns
and villages to visit or watch the fishing boats bringing in the fresh
catches of fish, crabs & lobsters at the local piers.
In the evenings, visit the local pubs & listen to the good humoured
banter of the local people or listen to music or see the sunset at
beautiful Trawbreaga bay.
Meals
are available at a very reasonable price within a minutes walk from
An Maidí Dubha at the local lounge bar, so no need to worry about
driving back. Taxis are on call and very reasonably priced compared
to anywhere else in Ireland.
